WORLD CLASS MIXING, DELIVERED GLOBALLY

Choosing a Mixing Engineer Is an Important Decision -  You've invested a ton of time, energy and money to produce great tracks. At this point do you really want to try to save a few bucks on the mix? There are lot's of websites offering "all in" mixes for next to nothing, but who is doing the mixing? Please take the time to look through this site and check out my credits and my mixes. I give every song I mix a hundred and ten percent, and I will give your record the "hit mix" it deserves. Check out the video and hear what past client, Brian Dawson of "Shades Of August" has to say.

I am here to give you a world class, professional mix - I have over three decades of experience recording, mixing, producing, arranging and helping with the composition and pre-production of hit songs.  If you are interested in any of these services I would be happy to discuss your project in detail, and help you determine the best course of action at any point along the journey, from concept to completion.  I want to help you with your record, and thanks to present day technology and the use of high-speed internet, this can be accomplished without geographic limitations, and at a lower cost than ever before.

My mix services are guaranteed - Practically all of my clients are extremely happy with my initial mix pass, and there are only one or two revisions necessary before we are finished.  You will be happy with the mix I deliver because I will handle as many revisions as necessary to ensure that you are 100% satisfied.

The State of the Art - In the course of my career I have worked on many styles and genres of music for records, feature films, television and well as internet media. I've seen music, recording technology, and the industry go through unbelievable changes.  While the internet has created a wonderful opportunity for aspiring musicians, many of today's artists struggle to produce and release songs without the funding or help of a record company.  Modern technology makes it possible, and more affordable than ever  to record and produce many styles of music without a full blown recording facility.  But even with the availability of great sounding gear, many self-produced artists are unable to realize the results they seek.   The art of mixing is refined through experience. That's where I come in.

Getting Started - When you have everything recorded the next step is to get the session and/or files to me. Details on file preparation can be found on the FAQ page. You can use a file transfer service like MAIL BIG FILE or WE TRANSFER.  There are other services available and any of them are fine.  You can also use a drop box account or FTP server. If you are unfamiliar with these types of large file transfer services, when you are ready to upload files we can discuss your options. If your internet connection is limited or slow, you can also send files via Fed Ex or US Mail.

As soon as I receive the data I will load it up and make sure it's all there and that it plays properly. I will contact you to confirm that everything is working and to discuss the direction for your mix.  You may have examples of songs you'd like to model your sound after.  You may want to let me hear a rough mix so I can get a feel for the general balances that were working for you as you finished the recording.  I will want to get as clear an understanding from you as possible of the details that you have in mind for your mix.

I will go to work on your mix, and as soon as I have something to present to you, I will send you a mix in progress for your comments.  You will then have the opportunity to listen in your own familiar environment and make notes. You can send me comments in an email and/or we'll talk on the phone, after which I will make the necessary revisions and send you a revised mix.  I will do additional revisions based on your comments until you are 100% happy with the mix.  If  some mix details need special attention, we can schedule an online mixing session.  I will send you a link to a live stream of the mix so that you can listen and comment on the mix as I make adjustments in real time.

Once the mix is done I will send you a 24 bit WAV file.  I can send it with full dynamic range (no limiting) for third party mastering, or I can send it rendered at "radio ready" level so that it can be directly released for airplay and distribution without mastering.  If you are interested in my mastering services please check out the FAQ section on mastering and/or the Mastering Services page of this website.

What You Need To Do - If you are using Pro Tools, in any version or format,  just send me your session and I will be able to load it without further changes.  If you are using another DAW, such as Logic, Cubase, etc. then you will need to bounce out your individual tracks as WAV or AIFF files. I prefer 24 bit WAV, but if you are already using another format, that’s fine.  When you bounce your tracks, please bring the faders to unity gain (0). If your faders are very low, the resulting bounced files will also have a very low volume. Also, please remove any effects such as reverbs or delays. The only exception to this is if it is an effect that is an integral part of the sound (for example a sweeping filter on a synth). When in question, just bounce two copies of the sound, one with the effect and one without. Most importantly, make sure each audio file is bounced from the beginning of the session, even if that means there is blank space. This way, everything will line up correctly when I import the files into Pro Tools.  Once everything is prepared, you just need to get the files to me as previously discussed.
